Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The vineyard it surrounded by a wooden lot within the Leelanau Peninsula AVA. The vineyard is hand-tended using high standard canopy management practices to ensure the highest quality of grapes.
Production Notes
The adjustments were made because of how vegetative that block wants to be. We felt it would ripen more evenly and set better if it was riding on 4 canes. 2018 was a fairly light crop. that vintage we gave it 3 hours skin contact and stopped the fermentation at 0.4 brix to give it some volume. it spent 4 months time passively on lees.
Winemaker Notes
Our Gris acid levels are a little higher for an Alsatian style, but the pH is a bit higher due to extended lees aging which adds to its medium body and along with the palate it more truly emulates the Gris style.
Other Notes
2018 was a fairly light crop. The grapes were given three hours of skin contact. Fermentation stopped at 0.4 brix giving the wine volume. Four months sur lie aging.
